  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or Italian sausage and cook until browned.
  4. Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent. If using mushrooms, add them and sauté until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Pour the marinara sauce over the meat and vegetable mixture. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti with the sauce mixture and mix well.
  7. Fold in 1 cup of mozzarella and 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese into the pasta mixture.
  8. Transfer the spaghetti mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese, followed by the sliced pepperoni and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Let the casserole cool for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
